The owner of this home portrait absolutely LOVES their garden and it shows. Who wouldn’t with greenery like that! What I loved about painting this portrait was that the focus wasn’t necessarily on the home. It was more the feeling and the details in each of the photos that were given to me. The little hint of child-like whimsy in the beach cruiser and the cheeky little flamingos standing tall by the front stoop. Each home has such a special story to tell, I feel privileged to have a hand in preserving these moments and making them come to life!
Love stories and lighthouses… I couldn’t contain my happiness when I started on this piece! Lighthouses, in my opinion are already totally romantic. What makes this memory even more swoon-worthy is that the groom proposed to his future bride at the exact light house that his father had a hand in building. Talk about an important artifact! I was beyond thrilled to give this couple a daily reminder of the location they they started their “forever” journey together.
This little home is so moody and cute. It reminds me of a shabby chic little upstate cottage! I can just imagine bold victorian wallpaper lining the dining room and a grand piano settled against the wall. I oftentimes come up with fun little stories in my head as I draw and paint each portrait. It brings fun and excitement into my process and helps me to find the “feeling” of each piece! Did I mention that I absolutely love what I do?!
The most amazing thing about this cottage is how much it truly resembles a quaint little treehouse. Its lines flow freely with its environment, instead of standing out. To emphasize the fact that the building blends in with nature’s backdrop I chose to use a limited color palette aside from the little pops of red which are a shout out to the cottage’s home in Canada!
I cannot explain to you how incredibly happy it made me to paint this home. How adorable is this house?! I can just imagine little pixie fairies running around outside in the garden.
For me, painting a home isn’t about the structure itself, but more so the details. The details are what make a house a home!! The little succulent you brought back from the farmers market, the funny pink flamingo that remains a running joke. It’s ALL in the details, and I LOVE every single one!
For the castle wedding, my focus could have been on the building itself, but I knew that I also wanted to capture the magnitude of the beauty in Scotland. I felt that I could do this by making the castle a part of the whole by focusing on the landscape in its entirety.
What’s better than hanging a common photograph on the wall?Commemorating your best friend in a beautifully painted portrait! This puppy portrait was commissioned for a couple who wanted to give a special and unique gift to their mother for Christmas.
The Hall’s came to me when they made the decision to tear down their cozy Georgia house to build their dream home. Wanting to preserve the memories that they had made in this whimsical cottage, Mrs. Hall sent me multiple images that had significant details that she wanted to add to the portrait. This portrait will hang in the couple’s new home upon completion to commemorate where they started from.
The end result of this cottage/home portrait came about after a conversation with the commissioner. We both agreed that the reference photo that was given at the beginning of the project felt a bit to “stark” and “white” for where we wanted to final piece to end up. I added some spring-time cheeriness to the canvas in the form of newly green and purple buds to represent the whimsical nature of springtime at the cottage! I love working with my clients to create a highly customized end result that everyone is in love with!
“I Give You Everything” is an homage to a beautiful painting that depicts the love of a parent for a child. The client wanted the same sentiment, but in a more stylized way. This ended up being a gorgeous gift to celebrate and incredible dad one Father’s Day!
